Tomorrow the News Letter runs a story from an event held at Westbourne Presbyterian Church which hosted a preview performance of a new play on Ian Paisley, now Lord Bannside.
Following the play a discussion on the legacy of Ian Paisley ensued, Chaired by the BBC’s Noel Thompson. During this discussion the high point was when DUP MLA, Sammy Douglas, responded stating that the “Best thing Paisley ever did was to say yes”.
What do you think? Is he right?
Alan in Belfast recorded the debate and has posted it on Slugger O’Toole opening up a wider debate on those working class Protestant communities, argued by some, to have lost out on the agreement and ensuing peace process.

Best thing for him personally in a political sense (I am separating Paisley the politician and Paisley the church leader)- he left the scene on a positive note, even disproving Enoch Powell’s old saying that all political careers end in failure.
